Fuengirola is just 20 minutes by car from Malaga airport, and searching for hotels Fuengirola will yield a wide range of results for you. Known as the Costa del Sol’s most exclusive resort, Marbella’s wealth shines out of the golden mile. Hotels Marbella can be expensive and indulgent, but then you can find some bargains if you are prepared to sacrifice a few luxuries and location.

The Golden Mile

Getting There

A Brief History
The most popular of the Moorish towns between Malaga and Gibraltar, and much of the Moorish influence particularly to the layout of the streets is still evident today. Jerez although larger than nearby Cadiz seems quieter. The city is most well know for it’s sherry, the wine that takes it’s name from here and is drunk in huge quantities throughout Andalucía. Jerez De La Frontera hotels give you a place to rest up between sampling the sights and drinks this town has to offer.

Jerez is also well known for it’s flamenco and horses, with huge festivals showcasing both throughout the year. Hotels may be a bit harder to find during May Feria when the Spanish motorcycling Grand Prix usually takes place.

Getting There
Jerez can be reached quite easily using public transport from Sevilla or Cadiz. It also has it’s own airport just 8km to the northeast of the town with both domestic and international flights stopping there.

A Brief History
Jerez was a fairly unimportant during Roman times, though it did produce wine back then. Strong moor influence remains as in much of Andalucia. The name ‘de la frontera’ means of the frontier, a full name addition that it shares with many other towns in the area. Jerez has been famous for its sherry since the 15th century and ever since Britain has been its main consumer. Jerez also is well known for its large gypsy community as well. Things to See
At the centre of Jerez is Plaza del Arenal, with many of the cities main sites a short walk from here. There is a cathedral and some interesting churches including Ingelsia de San Miguel.
