Known as the Costa del Sol’s most exclusive resort, Marbella’s wealth shines out of the golden mile. Hotels Marbella can be expensive and indulgent, but then you can find some bargains if you are prepared to sacrifice a few luxuries and location.

The Golden Mile
Stretching from Marbella to Puerto Banus, there are plenty of star spot clubs, hotels and restaurants. You’ll see luxury cars cruising down the strip and luxury yachts in the quay. This is the place to come for the areas best food and drink, any you can find the odd decent tapas bar if you look hard enough.

Getting There
The nearest airport is Malaga, which is less than an hour away by road, and there are regular buses if you are not hiring a car. The closest place to catch the train is at Algerciras to the West and Fuengirola to the East.

A Brief History
The most popular of the Moorish towns between Malaga and Gibraltar, and much of the Moorish influence particularly to the layout of the streets is still evident today. Due to it’s location next to the sea with beautiful views and climate, in the mid 1950s a club called the Marbella Club was built here by Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe. This attracted a wealthy international following which sprawled out from it the up-market Marbella that we find today.

Things to See
Marbellas Casco Antinguo (Old Town) is a small area to the north of Avenda Ramon y Cajal. There are still good sights of the old Moorish walls and one of the original towers of the Castillo. To the west is the Parque de la Consitutucion with pleasing gardens on a fairly large outdoor auditorium. There are also a number of museums in and around the town, but these probably won’t be the main priority for many visitors.

Marbella Hotels
Looking for hotels in Marbella means stepping up your expectations as to how much money your are going to spend. This is the place to perhaps come as part of your overall Costas trip to splash out and spend. In this area when looking for hotels in Marbella it is also worth considering the other areas such as Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Mijas and around Marbella.

Some accommodation in Marbella to consider includes Marbella Club hotel, the original destination in Marbella. Also worth checking out are El Oceano Beach Hotel Marbella, Hotel Los Monteros Marbella and Gran Hotel Guadalpin Marbella. There is also El Fuerte, Artola Golf Hotel, Berlin, Central, La Luna, Juan and Albergue Juvenil.

There are also a few good quality campsites near to Marbella, which are all on the coast and close to the beach, but many find at doing Hotels Marbella style is the best to make the most of their holiday.
